Art Journal Dream: Finding Journaling Inspiration in Color, Line and Technique
Hosted by Melanie Testa, author of Dreaming from the Journal Page
A FREE Online Webinar
Date: Thursday, April 26, 2012
Starting Time: 1:00 P.M. Eastern Time
About the Webinar:
Melanie Testa, author of Dreaming from the Journal Page, is inspired by everything around her, and everything she experiences seems to make its way into her art—big, bold gorgeous images that invariably come to life in her journals and sketchbooks.
Working in color that’s rich and intense, Melanie commits to the page—using paint, pencils, pens, dye, stamps, stencils, resists, transfers, collage, soy wax and more!
In this webinar, you’ll walk through Melanie’s daydream world with her and she will spend time with you sharing her best tips and techniques for:
Working with Color—Choosing paints, describing and identifying color, mixing your own color wheel and creating color gradations
Drawing—Yes, it’s hard work, and you’ll find that Melanie’s main piece of
advice to you is to draw more. That said, though, she will also share with you drawing exercises that will build both your skills and your confidence. This part of the webinar will close with a list of prompts and suggestions for further drawing inspiration.
The Throw Down—Melanie will wrap up the main portion of the webinar by talking about the concept of the Throw Down – the absolute perfect exercise for the mixed-media enthusiast! She’ll break down examples of her own work to show you all you can do with your favorite techniques and media, and she’ll leave you with prompts for your own Throw Downs.
