Are you in the mood to explore? This summer, come along on a seven-week adventure through the pages of Liz Lamoreux’s book Inner Excavation: Explore Your Self Through Photography, Poetry, and Mixed Media. This read-along, which she is calling “Inner Excavate-along,” is free and begins on her blogJune 11.
In Inner Excavation, Liz gathered up many of her favorite ways to explore the present moment, sift through pieces of the past, and think about where you want to next walk on your path using the mediums of poetry, photography, and mixed media. A few of the themes examined include the senses, self-portraits, collaborating, capturing the every day through your camera lens, and unearthing the poet within you. The prompts and examples throughout the book invite you to look inward to share your own story while being inspired by the stories of others.
The “Inner Excavate-along” will give you the opportunity to work through the book in community this summer as we connect on her blog and in our Flickr group. And more importantly perhaps, this read-along will give you the excuse to take time for yourself and play with photos and words and maybe even paint and paper as we read through the pages together. You might even decide to work through the book with a few family members or a group of friends.
Here’s how Liz explains her thoughts on the project:

Each week of the “Inner Excavate-along” will explore one chapter in the book. During the week, Liz will share a new video talking about the chapter theme and new ideas, thoughts, and stories that inspire her on this theme. She will also choose one (or more) prompts to work with and will share her new responses on her blog. You are invited to work through the prompt Liz chooses or choose a different prompt in the chapter and then share your responses in her Flickr group.
Additionally, contributors Kelly Barton, Susannah Conway, Darlene Kreutzer, Stephanie Lee, Vivienne McMaster, and Kristen Perman will be sharing guest posts and other good things along the way!
For a chance to win a copy of the book—making joining in on the action extra easy!—leave a comment here and on a follow-up post next week, we’ll announce the randomly-selected winner.
