Artist Profile: Jenni Bowlin

Jenni Bowlin lives in Mt. Juliet, TN and is best known in the scrapbooking world, but like many scrapbookers, her work teeters on the mixed-media side. Jenni is also known for her product line that you can see, and purchase items here at her website. Her products products range from her fantastic kits, to embellishments and stamps, to brads, ink pads, cardstock and so much more! Jenni also has a great blog where there is always a variety of topics posted and plenty of inspiration.





Q: What are you working on right now?
Holiday décor projects!

Q: Why do you make art?
I have to. No choice. It is an inner pull, constantly.

Q: What’s your current favorite, can’t-live-without-it tool, supply, material, or junkyard find?
Buttons—particularly mother of pearl. They have always called my name.

Q: What’s the best book you’ve read lately?
I don’t read books, but I love magazines. I am always picking up décor magazines for ideas for color combos, etc.

Q: What’s the most inspiring trip you’ve ever taken or adventure you’ve ever had?
Going to South Africa to teach. It was amazing and I will never forget it.

Q: What’s the last thing you cooked?
Caramel Brownies.

Q: If you could surround yourself with only one color, what would it be?

Q: Do you have a talisman/power garment/magical thing you wear?
Nope—just something comfortable!

Q: What’s your favorite place in all the world?
I really love Disneyworld—sad, I know. I don’t get a lot of time to just “be” with my kids and this is a special place for us.

Q: What one thing do you want to do that you haven’t done yet?
Jump into the gift and/or home décor market.

Q: What’s the best day you’ve ever had?
Wow—I couldn’t pick!

Q: What’s today’s Words to Live By?
One day at a time.

Q: What is your guilty pleasure?
Baking (and eating what I bake—ughh)!

Q: What do you listen to when you create?
Keane and Allison Krauss are my favorites when I’m in my studio.

Q: If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
To do 10 things at once.

Q: With whom would you love to spend one day making art?
Pam Garrison—she would keep me laughing the entire time. Love her art and love her!

Q: When is your favorite time of day?

Q: What is on your workspace right now?
It’s actually clean—very unusual!

Q: What is your earliest memory?
Related to art . . . making cards and trying to sell them on the side of the road.

Q: What’s your best piece of advice for artists?
Start a blog! It is your best marketing tool and it’s free!

Q: What is your least favorite technique that you still use anyway?
I don’t think I have one. If I don’t like it I tend to ditch it.

Q: What’s your favorite tool or material?
I love vellum right now. It is subtle and versatile.

Q: What’s your one favorite material thing?
I just received the high school graduation class photos of both of my husband’s grandparents. That is a treasure and my new favorite.
