I call my clothes SoulWear–personal, unique garments that reflect my own personality. I *love* those kinds of clothes on anyone, no matter if they create the clothes themselves or put together outfits from bits and pieces of other people’s creations. And while I love seeing SoulWear on anyone, I’m especially entranced by older adults who dress idiosyncratically. So you can imagine how much I like Ari Seth Cohen’s Advanced Style blog, even though many of the outfits are a little too designer-ish for my own taste. I can’t wait for his book to come out.
I’ve podcasted with Ari and with one of his regulars, Debra Rapoport, who sent me an email with a link to a series in Time Out New York. She’s featured there
along with Tziporah Salamon (see her here on Stylelikeu.com) and the Idiosyncratic Fashionistas, also frequent subjects of Ari and his camera. Go take a look–and think about the ways your wardrobe might be better able to reflect your own personality. Except for jobs where you’re required to dress in certain ways (a uniform, a suit), your wardrobe can be anything you want it to be.
Ricë blogs about her adventures in SoulWear at The Voodoo Cafe.
