As we prepare to enter the new year, it’s a good time to take stock in where you are Right Now. Try this Repetition of Stamps collage from Art of Layers. First, make a collage for where you are currently and then try creating a new collage for where you’d like to be in the next year.

If one beautiful image is good, then three or more is better. I love repeating elements on my pages and look for opportunities to do this with stamps. An open stamp, like a postage stamp or label, is a great way to repeat an element and add in a few more layers.
This layout all started with that postage stamp. It was too cute not to repeat all over the background of my layout. I decided to fill in those openings with pictures of my life right at that particular moment. Think of it as a snapshot of my life. It is a great way to capture a day, week or month of your life.
The rub-on in the stamped rectangles was actually one large phrase. I decided to cut it down into smaller pieces to fit inside the images.
What You’ll Need:
two stamps
acrylic block
black ink
patterned paper
assorted embellishments
1. Starting in the center of the page, using black ink, stamp the postage image. Working out from the center, continue to place random images of the postage stamp.
2. Turn the postage stamp image horizontal and stamp some more images in a random pattern.
3. Stamp the bicycle stamp next to the bottom right postage stamp.
4. Embellish the open stamped image with patterned paper and photographs. Finish the stamp areas with bits and pieces of embellishments including chipboard, sticker phrases, tissue flowers and twine.
Stamp It Out
Try repeating the same stamp over the entire paper of a project, creating your own background. You can stamp them in the same ink or try different color inks for an added twist.
