I love letterforms and like to play with alphabets. I turned this easy alphabet into Letterform Lover’s Nightmare by adding doodles. You have to love Zen Doodles to do all the crosshatching required on this design.

How to Draw Calligraphy Doodles Step-by-Step:
Step One: Divide the 5″ × 7″ (13cm × 18cm) card into twenty-four spaces with a small margin around each space. Divide two squares into triangles. I used I, J, U and V in these squares.
Step Two: Decide whether your alphabet will have serifs, thick and thin lines, or be all the same weight. I used serifs and thick and thin lines. Draw your alphabet in the squares.
Step Three: Add dots to the letters.
Outline each letter. To finish, add crosshatching.
